NAB arrests Khawaja Saad Rafique, brother in Paragon Housing case

Nab arrest khawaja saad rafique

ARY News reported on Tuesday that Khawaja Saad Rafique, a Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz(PML-N) leader, and his brother Khawaja Salman Rafique were arrested. Lahore High Court renounced their appeal to be released, so a NAB official apprehended them.

The NAB attorney was heard and afterward, the two-judge bench rejected the PML-N leader
Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother’s petition to be bailed. At the trial, Saad Rafique’s defense attorney told the court that his client was innocent. He claimed that Saad Rafique was being rigged into the Paragon Housing Society case.
Khawaja Saad Rafique addressed PMLN workers outside the court after which they began protesting and shouting pro-party slogans.

NAB started inquiring into the housing society fraud in November and also attended a press conference at the Lahore Press Club. This was done after the sufferers protested against the hoax. Corruption charges on the Lahore Development Authority(LDA) director general Ahad Khan Cheema led to his arrest. It was found out through the investigation that Cheema manipulated people by using his power. He obtained tons of money by handing over the contract of the project to Casa Developers. Supposedly, the sum was paid from the Paragon Housing Society account.

‘Qaiser Amin Butt’s revelations’

The director of the Paragon Housing Society, Qaiser Amin Butt was arrested last month. He admitted what he was accused of and his account was recorded in front of the chairman NAB.

According to sources, Qaiser is Khawaja Saad Rafique’s good friend. He told that the LDA did not accept the Paragon Society and that the Khawaja brothers were the beneficial owners of the housing scheme.

He also revealed that all the transactions were done by the Paragon City Director Nadeem Zia. Khawaja brothers would always the money in cash form. The Lahore Development Authority did not release the Paragon Society, released as said by Qaiser.
